Good vs. great instruments: it starts with requirements engineering

Define the customer experience early — and build Life Science instruments your customers really love.

When instruments aren’t designed as an integrated experience, scientists notice immediately. Too many steps. Too much manual work. Too many workarounds that make workflows harder than they should be. These frictions directly influence usability, adoption, and the long-term success of your product.

The difference between a good instrument and a great one is often not the science — it’s how well the requirements and customer experience are defined at the very beginning. At HSE, we help Product Managers and R&D teams sharpen this crucial first phase with clear, actionable requirements engineering grounded in real lab and workflow understanding.

This ensures that every design choice aligns with how scientists actually work, reducing complexity and strengthening product differentiation. To support your next development project, we’ve created a practical Requirements Checklist to help you capture what truly matters early on.
